Synchronize Camera Link with External Trigger

I'm using a NI 1428 IMAQ board to acquire images of a laser pulse. I have a DALSA 1M60 camera attached with the Camera Link cable, and the laser attached to one of the external triggers from the card's RTSI bus.

My problem is this, how do I write into my LabView VI to have the camera snap at the moment the laser fires, or as close to it as possible? (millisecond accuracy is crucial)

I can't seem to find a function the triggers through the Camera Link and none of the RTSI channels not used for the 4 external triggers seem to do it.

Hi QyetOne,

Thanks for using our discussion forums. I think what you are trying to do could be accomplished using the IMAQ Configure Trigger VI. You can find this in LabVIEW by going to Functions>>All Functions>>NI Measurements>>Vision>>Image Acquisition>>IMAQ Configure Trigger.vi. YOuo will notice an input to this where you can create a constant and select the RTSI line over which you are triggering. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a question similar to the previous posting.  I have a PCIe-1430 with the I/O Extension card with a Dalsa DS-21-02M30 that I need to sync a strobe to the frame acquisition.  I can't seem to properly synchronize the acquisition to the strobe.  Are there any examples to illustrate how to do this?  Any recommendations?
