S3-20-01K40 Camera File Problem

[Basic Environment about Problem]

1. Camera: DALSA S3-20-01K40-00-R

    - High Speed Dual Line CCD

    - Tab: 2 tab

    - Tab type: HalfLeft/ HalfRight Type

2. Frame Grabber: NI PCI-1426

3. pixel bit number: 12 bits (in the 8 bits mode, there is no problem)

[Problem Explain]

In the 12 bits mode, image breaks in half like follow image.

The splitted image in half on the 12 bits mode

But, there is no problem in the 8 bits mode like follow image.

As you know, in the Matrox Image Grab Board, I can choose the something for 12 bits mode of this camera.

Please check and tell me the solution to resolve this problem.

Thank you.

Here's a high tech answer:  I think the taps might be out of order for the 12 bit mode on the left hand side.  It might take somebody very familiar with the camera files to diagnose and fix this problem.

A few questions:  Does this always happen, or is it intermittent?  Where did you get the camera file?  It might be worth trying out the camera file generator and creating a camera file from scratch if you haven't done so.

Also, posting the camera file could be helpful.

I took a closer look at the 12 bit image, and it is interesting.  The right hand side only has 4 bits of resolution.  It is missing the 8 less significant detail bits.  The left hand side is just a mess.  It looks very scrambled.  I don't see any repeating patterns, so I am guessing it has the less significant bits from both sides but none of the more significant bits.

Once again,

1.  Where did you get the camera file?  It doesn't look like it was tested on 12 bit images.

2.  You might want to try generating a camera file from scratch using the camera file generator.  See if this solves the issue.

3.  Please post the camera file so it can be examined.
