Robot: Object Track and Move

Hello everyone,

I am trying to implement a robot that is able to detect a point on the ground from a distance and move towards it. The robot is an sbRIO 9631 and is already fully functional with an ultrasonic sensor on board.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

The ground I will be working on will be white. I can choose the points to be of circular shape and from different colors ex red and yellow or place a shape ex: arrow so that the robot can understand that it should move forward. I am still deciding and open to better suggestions. What do you suggest?

classify your points based on shape and then check them by color

I am having trouble tracking points from a distance. I am using a labview code that uses image processing to track a black square on a white sheet of paper; however this code is unable to adjust to depth thus losing the target as the paper is moved away from the camera. I am not sure how to resolve such an issue in order to implement it on my project, could you please offer some further explanation or an example that I can refer to?

Thank you sir!
