PCI-1408

We just opened a new Dell Dimension E510 computer and installed LabVIEW 8.0 PDS; we are working with a PCI-1408 board and IMAQ version 3.5.1.  MAX recognizes the device, however we keep getting time-out errors whenever we try to snap or grab data in MAX or even with a simple grab program in LabVIEW.  Our card worked in the previous system, with LabVIEW 7.1.We've tried adjusting  Frame time-out settings and we've tried all the different channels as well...Anyone got an idea?

Since MAX is recognizing the card, let's try adjusting different variables to see what might be the problem:

1. Make sure the video format of the camera is correctly set (RS-170, NTSC, etc.) in MAX.  Stick with just Channel 0 (unless you have a breakout accessory) for testing out the camera.
2. Does the board work if you swap out the BNC cable?  What about if you use another camera?  Again, make sure the video format in MAX is correct for the new camera.
3. Does the board work in another computer?  All you need is to install NI-IMAQ 3.5.1 to see if the board works. If the board does or doesn't work in the other computer, what type of computer is it?

Try these troubleshooting steps out and let me know what happens.

Hello.  The PCI-1408 is an older frame grabber and I believe it is not supported under new versions of NI-IMAQ.  You may need to use an older version of NI-IMAQ to get the board to work.  The NI Application Engineers may be able to recommend and provide an exact version.

Hi Laser,

What version of NI-IMAQ was originally on your previous computer?  Depending on the version number, it may work with LabVIEW 8.0.  We also have previous versions of NI-IMAQ online for you to download and install.  If you would like to tell me the part number of your PCI-1408 (usually a 9-digit alphanumeric number with a hypen in it), I can try replicating your issue over here.
