Lasertriangulation

Hy guy's and lady's

I got an critical issue

I have a keyence lj-7xxxxx sensor of keyence and i need to measure some rivets which are polished, scanning in a high dynamic field (2) with a median set to 4.

By scanning the sensor allways detects a higher spot (optical illusion) at the beginning of the rivets and at the beginning of the part itself, this leads to a failed measurement by setting a cordinat system or measuring the intensities on the wrong position.

Do someone got some experience with this sensors or thematic?

I do the evaluation in VBAI 2018

Keyence makes very expensive sensors, I suggest you hold their feet to the fire to get the best settings.

Shiny objects can be very difficult to image / measure, that's what makes it fun.

I assume you need to know the profile of the rivet, presumably to insure that the height is within some parameter  There may be other methods that are more robust, depending on the speed of the measurement, required working distance and  resolution of the range.

I'll be happy to pontificate more, if you wish to provide more details.  Beating on Keyence is a good idea. They make good products, but occasionally oversell them.

Best of luck

Robert

Hy Robert, thanks for answering.

The required resolution is 0,01mm.

8-9 rivets need to be meassured within a distance of ~250mm (distance the senaor is moved horizontal)

The working distance of the sensor is set to the sweetspot (vertical [the object hight where the rivets need to be measured ranges from 10-25mm])

Max time for measurements is about 2 seconds.

Maybe Tuesday i can attach some pictures for more details.

Yea they are pretty expensive but normally they are pretty trustful. On keyence systems the sittings u can choose for optimization are very limited in my opinion.

Looking forward to seeing the images.

Press Keyence for answers.  If they cant help, you will likely end up with a different sensor, with related cost and learning curve!

I made some offsets in the Evaluation and cleared it with the customer

My Company forbid it to send a few images to you.

It is no solution but i am not able to send u something

Thanks 4 ur help

Press Keyence for solution. If you want to being me in under NDA that can work. My gut feeling is that your inspection should be pretty straightforward.  Best of luck!
