Is it possible to have nested state machiunes in Vision Builder AI

Hello,

I'm just starting to use the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection program and I must say - it really looks nice.
I'm trying to convert a large application written in a similar environment (not NI) to the VBAI environment.

I didn't find the possibility to nest different state machines. I'm asking this since the other application contains a lot of states (>100 states)
This makes it difficult to put all the states into a single state diagram.

Is it possible to have nested state diagrams in VBAI? (inside the main state diagram one state is the placeholder for another state diagram)

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi,

Unfortunately, the feature you're describing is not yet available in Vision Builder AI.
However, there is a feature called product selection, which allows to switch from multiple state diagrams (inspections) that you have written.
You can access it from the menu View>>View Complete Inspection Setup.
If you click on the Select Inspection state, you can use a limited set of the Vision Builder AI functions (mainly I/Os and the Run LabVIEW step), to produce results that can be used to decide which inspection to load from the Select Inspection step. Look at the help that appears in the main window when you click on Select Inspection for more information on how this works.

Hope this helps,

Best regards,
