IMAQ IEE1394 to IMAQdx, which disks?

Hello,
We have a test station that has 8.2 installed, but does not appear to have IMAQdx included.  We have our development PC's which we have installed the "newer" 8.2 disks, which appear do have IMAQdx.  The new IMAQdx affected the way we  pass IMAQ sessions back and forth between teststand, which forced us to update our software to account for this (some of which has not been resolved, which is another post).  We now have the necessity to install the "newer' 8.2 on our test station, to get the IMAQdx support for our software changes to work, but we don't want to go through the entire update process.  Are there a certain subset of disks we can use to update the test station from the "older" 8.2 (IEEE1394 firewire only) to the "newer" 8.2 disks (IMAQdx).

I see there are 4 disks in the latest (November 2006) disks that appear to affect vision:
NI Vision Development Module
NI Vision Acquistion Software
NI Vision Builder

I see these are listed as "updated" from the previous set of disks.  Is it just a matter of installing these disks over the top of our existing installation? If not, what would be the procedure?

Thanks

BTW, it would be extremely helpful to include a list, or a link to a more detailed changelist explanation between disk sets so we can decide if it is worth the trouble to upgrade.  Does such a document exist for disk sets (besides the high level list of what disks have changed that comes with the disks)?

Hello david_jenkinson,

The Vision Acquisition Software includes three drivers:

  1. NI-IMAQ
  2. NI-IMAQdx
  3. NI-IMAQ I/O

Using this disk you should be able to install only the newer NI-IMAQdx driver by deselecting the other drivers in the installation options for the Vision Acquisition Software.  If you decide to update all of your software, you are correct in that the installation disks will simply install “on top” of old software and automatically remove any previous versions that need to be removed.

This link points to the current release notes in pdf format for our machine vision software.  These documents contain a section entitled “New Features” that outlines new features available with the most current revision of our software.
