If you are using the PCI-1411, you can select the output as color, or a single color plane. It is one of the options under the properties.

I don't think you can do it with any of the digital camera cards or Firewire.

Dear Bruce,

Yes, I'm using PCI-1411. I tried to configure this in the same way you suggested me, but I've seen the drop down of only RGB, R, G, B, HSL, H, S, L. So, I don't know how to set the output to be Intensity plane or Value plane.

Thanks and regards,

In the HSL planes, the L plane is Lightness. This is practically the same thing as Intensity or Value. I think it is a slightly different definition mathematically, but probably not enough to affect you. So, try out the L plane and see if it works.

If the difference between Lightness and the others is a significant one, you are going to need to acquire color images and extract the plane you need using the color tools in the Vision toolkit.

Bruce,

Thank you so much for your helpfulness. I'm trying on the L plane and considering whether it works.
