How to improve Pattern Matching Algorithm?

I was trying to find a way to improve the Labview's Pattern Match instruction. Does anybody knows about Books and Web Sites that talk about this problem (or machine vision in general)?

Well, I can give you one sample book chapter with more info about pattern matching.
The complete parameter description is on a later section (there is a LOT of advanced options for pattern matching), but I think it will already help you to get started with that.
