Does the NI PCI-1422 IMAQ LVDS board also handle 422 digital IMAQ signals?

I am evaluating purchasing a NI-1422 board LVDS version and heard that the LVDS can handle 422 and LVDS signals. Is this true?

The 1422 has two versions: LVDS or RS-422. The LVDS version takes in parallel LVDS signals while the RS-422 is a differential version of the RS-232.

True, but can the LVDS be made to handle 422? In other words can you purchase an LVDS for LVDS signals and also use this same board for 422 as well?

The logical answer is no, I don'te see why they would create two different parts if one can do the other. I am currently using the 1422. It looks like the RS-422 lines are not available for I/O's. What you can do is to get the 1424 (RS-422/TLL version) if you want to do both. You can definitely convert TTL to LVDS. Hope that helps 🙂
