Cameralink triggering

Hi bestbeir

I have two bits of information for you.

First, the button being grayed out is actually a bug with the driver.  R&D is currently working to fix it and will, hopefully, have a patch for it soon.

Second, as far as triggering your camera link camera, I learned that is best way to control this through the camera file.  You can make modifications to your camera file using the camera file generator.  Within the camera file generator you can specify the amount of time you want your pulse to be high and how long it is low before it goes high. Go to the Camera Control tab to add your triggering.  Add an attribute for triggering.  Then under the Actions section there is a Pulse Generation tab.  You can add your pulse generation specifications by clicking Add and configuring the pulse to what your application needs.  Therefore, you will use the trigger configure function from the API.  The frame grabber will then wait for the signal before sending the pulse to the camera, as specified by the camera file.

I hope this helps!

Hi Kristen

Thanks for the update.

The problem with having the camera file generate the pulse is that i need to be able to vary the length of the pulse. It need to be 33 or 150ms high and 5ms low.

I will look into generating the pulse with the camera file.

Hopefully the new driver is availible soon.

Best regards,

Bestbier

Hi bestbier!

You should still be able to use the camera file to generate pulses of either 33 or 150ms high with a 5ms low.  You would just create two different modes on the same control line (or different if you need that) and then specify programmatically which mode you want to use at that time.

Hi Kristen

Thanks for the info.

I should be able to do it like that until the driver bug is fixed. I will check how to do it.

Thanks for all the help.

Best regards,

Bestbier

Hi Kristen

I finally got around to trying to generate the pulse using the Camera File Generator. I just have one question: You can select the control line(0-7) in the pulse generation tab. From what I understand Control line 0-3 corrospond to CC line 1-4. Control line 4-7 are internal control lines? My camera does not use the cameralink CC lines so If I generate a pulse on Control line 4, how do I route that signal to be on TTL_Trig(0)?

Best regards,

Hi bestbier!

I think this KnowledgeBase article will explain it well for you.  Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Kristen

I have found that article while searching around and it deals with the routing to the Camera control lines. I need to route a pulse setup in Camera file generator to a TTL Trigger line. My camera does not support the CC lines so I need to run the trigger via an extra cable from a TTL Line.

Bestbier

Hi Bestbier!

My apologies- I read that wrong.  Are you able to configure route in MAX in the Signal Level tab?  If not, I will have to ask R&D, since I was not able to find documentation with explicit instructions.

Hi Kristen

I don't currently have a 1427 in my developement computer so I can get back to Signals tab in MAX.

I have looked around the signals tab, but as far as I remember you can only setup your incoming signals - either TTL0 or ISO0.

Best regards,

Bestbier

Hi bestbier

I looked under the signals tab for my 1427.  Here is what I saw:

Looks like it configures both input and output tirggering.  If possible, can you test it out?
