painting of graph cause program crash

Dubin,

We use USB GPIB too.

The program-crashed PC is Windows Professional/SP2, and NI-488.2 version 2.42.

We have test on 4 other PCs with Windows Home or Windows Professional, and NI-488.2 version 2.1 or version 2.42.

It seem that program-crashed PCs are always Windows Professional/SP2.

Hi, Vincent.

Yes, I agree with Dubin -- I didn't get a crash at all. Can you tell me a little more about the crash you're seeing? Does it hang CVI, does an error message appear, or does the program just close? If you get an error message, could you please post a screenshot? Also, how did PlotXY() work out?

Have a nice morning.

Sarah,

The program just close(disappear) when it paint the 7th point in data array. (PlotXY() is the same.)

Did you verify this test on Win/XP professional/SP2? Is there anything  I can do to work around this problem.

Thanks

Vincent Lee

Hi, Vincent.

Can you verify that your system crashes in the no-hardware version of the code that you sent me? (In other words, I'd like to make sure that this problem isn't somehow related to having your hardware connected.)

And yes, my system is XP Pro SP2, though I'm using 488.2 v 2.43. If your system only crashes when the code contains the hardware calls, I'd like you to try installing version 2.4. If it crashes with or without the hardware calls, I'd like you to uninstall and reinstall CVI.

Let me know how it goes. Have a nice evening!

Sarah,

We have verified that program will crash provided that CVI run-time engine is version 7.0.0.393, or 7.0.0.395, no matter it is installed on WIN/XP, or WIN/HOME.

Attached is program which DOES NOT concern any hardware control.

Thanks,

Vincent,

You've run into a known bug of the graph control in CVI 7.0. You can read this thread for the description and a workaround. If using the workaround is a problem for you, you can also download the latest run-time engine, which no longer has this bug.

Let us known if this works out.

Luis,

I will need autoscale in my application.  It will be my only choice to download new run-time engine. However, I doubt how can I include this run-time engine in my application when I build distribution kit. Please advise.

Thanks,

Vincent Lee

Vincent,

Keep in mind that, in order to workaround this bug, you only need to disable autoscaling for the top x-axis. You can still autoscale the other three axes. If you are in fact using the top x-axis in your program (it is hidden by default), let me know, and we can figure out how to proceed, as far as deploying the runtime engine is concerned.

What a coincidence.  I ran into the exact same issue today when zooming on a graph I just added to an application.  CVI 7.1.  Disable the top x axis autoscale and problem gone.   The timing of this message saved me a lot of work.  Thanks!
