VI_ERROR_LIBRARY_NFOUND

hi..
i am trying to use the viopenDefaultRM() function and trying to initialize
the instrument via the CVI driver written for our instrument.. the status
returned is VI status = VI_ERROR_LIBRARY_NFOUND( A code library reuqired
by VISa could not be located or loaded)

can anybody help me what is the reason for this error..

Karthik:

If you get this error on viOpenDefaultRM, it probably means that VISA
isn't installed properly. If you have CVI on your machine, that's a
surprise to me since CVI installs VISA unless you de-select it. You
can get NI-VISA from our ftp site at:

ftp.ni.com/support/visa/drivers

When this error is returned from viOpen (which you say is not
happening) then it usually means that a lower-level driver such as NI-
488 is not installed.

How can we automatically install visa in the distribution kit ?

It should be included by default in the download of CVI either from here (http://www.ni.com/lwcvi/download/) or your company's software repository.

thanks for your contribution but a lof of water has passed under the bridge in the 16 years since this discussion started , I suppose Pierre has already found his answer
