Some users that are CVI application developers operate in a tightly controlled environment where they are not given power-user or admin privileges.

Is there any solution/workaround other than enabling write access to the CVI folders as described in the article?

Unfortunately there is no workaround that I can think of. The general issue of being able to run CVI without administrator privileges is something that we are currently addressing, and hope to have it solved soon. I'm sorry that I don't have any better news for the moment...
