Distribution kit build error (Error Code -33)

I have CVI v8.0.0 (build 273) installed and get this error message (Distribution build error (Error Code -33)) when attempting to build a distribution kit.

CVI was installed from a network location which is now no longer available. I'm guessing that the Distribution Builder is trying to access the original installation media (there are no prompts to insert Driver CD's though).

My question is: If this is the case, how do I tell CVI to look at a different location (CD)  to load the drivers from?

Distribution build log file is attached.

Many thanks

Alan

It appears that the distribution builder is stumbling when it tries to find National Instruments Device Drivers - December 2005, Disk 2 at the path \\glkds0212\non-Certified\EIS-ROC-NI Device Drivers\device driver 2\. Normally, you should expect to be prompted to locate the missing distribution, but apparently, something about this circumstance is being treated as an error.

I would recommend the following workaround:

  1. Open the registry editor (regedit.exe) and search under \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\Common\Installer\Distributions\ for \\glkds0212\non-Certified\EIS-ROC-NI Device Drivers\device driver 2\.
  2. You should find this path is set as the DistRoot value for one of the registry keys. Change the value of DistRoot to D:\, or whatever new path you expect to supply the distribution from.
  3. I would also suggest that you browse through all of the other keys directly under the Distributions key and similarly change any paths that are inaccessible/bad network paths. This should prevent you from running into the same problem in the future, for other distributions.

Let me know if you have any trouble.
