CVI 2017, strange behaviour in code editor.

Solved!
Go to solution

NI guy here,

I created CAR 649936 to track this "surprise feature" Smiley Tongue. I think the behavior is specific to how you select the line. I'm able to reproduce this pretty consistently by:

  1. Enable line selection mode
  2. Put my cursor on the beginning of a line
  3. Using Shift + Down Arrow to select the row (notice how the first bit of the next line gets highlighted)
    line.PNG
  4. Press delete and use the arrow key to change rows

Using a triple-click to select the row instead didn't show the behavior (at least for me).

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

I wanted to post back to mention that this is a display only issue, and no extra lines are deleted from the .c file on disk (even if you save the file during the small amount of time the extra line is missing).

I just want to make sure that's clear to anyone who finds this post in the future. If you have a reason to believe that's not the case, please let me know.

Yes, I see this behavior too.  Very disconcerting at first!

But for me, doing the triple-select method does produce the effect still.

I'm having this behavior as well in CVI 17.0 (295).

When I select a line with Shift-Down Cursor and Delete or Ctrl-X, it deletes the line and the line below the line below it [sic]. After 2 seconds the screen refreshes and the missing line reappears. If you start moving the text cursor down before the refresh happens, then the  behavior the OP described happens.

If you program fast and move around quickly (like I do), this is a REALLY BAD THING. And inexcusable. Get this crap fixed guys.  😠

Well it's August 2018, is there a fix for this?  It is very annoying.

This issue should be fixed in the 2019 beta:

Well this issue disappeared for a while, now it's back in CVI 2017.

Anyone ever discover a fix for this stupid behavior? It's beyond annoying.
