write to spreadsheet controlled intervals

I am pretty new to Labview and have undertaken a project to get me started! Im having a few difficulties with the best method to takle this problem! any help would be great.

I have to write data from 3 dc analogue inputs(pressure transducers 0-10v) to a spreadsheet at intervals controlled by another dc analogue input the results also need to be plotted on a chart against the LVDT input. The controlling AI is an LVDT and as it increases its stroke length the voltage increases. My first problem is that I need to create a trigger from the LVDT AI this trigger needs to be adjustable for example;

If I use scaling on the LVDT channel to represent the stroke (DAQmx) 0v=0mm and 10v=400mm  the adjustable trigger could be set to only write data to the spreadsheet from the 3 inputs at intervals of 10mm or what ever is set on the 'trigger adjuster'

Hi Alan,

It sounds like an interesting getting started project.

A few questions about your hardware:

What hardware are you using?

What sampling rate will you be running at?

Do you wish to only save the data from the AI lines when you receive your trigger signal? Or do you wish to save all the data but simply update the spreadsheet on the trigger?

There are several methods to resolve this issue, you could either use the DAQmx trigger functions or read in the data and your trigger line on each iteration, compare the trigger signal to your adjustable value, and based on this decide whether or not to save the data to a spreadsheet.

If you can let me know the answers to the above questions we can look into this further.

Best regards,

John
