Hi

I am having problems with a created program. as i am unable to view the image from the webcam used. i was wondering if anyone had a solution as to why the program isnt functioning.

I don't know that I could be much help with such a question, but it would probably help those that have such knowledge if you told them what kind of webcam you were using.

Hi There,

Right well you have used the IMAQ functions to try and aquire from a USB camera.

What you need to do is download the USB IMAQ functions and use those.  It's not too difficult you get initialise, grab, snap, close etc vis so you can right click and replace the functions you currently have with the USB functions.

As for the code, that's fine (and should work with the correct functions) but I would put an IMAQ dispose Image after the while loop (and wire the image wire from inside the loop) so that you dispose of the memory space you were using for the image.

Thanks for the help it was very useful. i have changed the VI's to the USB IMAQ functions but am still unable to get the camera as i get an error message which occurs at the IMAQ USB INIT. was wondering if again anyone had any ideas on how to rectify the problem. i have attached the program so the error may be viewed.

Hey,

Well that error usually applies to an incorrect name for the USB camera.

If you use the enumerate cameras vi (as shown in the attachment) then index out the first value (which should be your camera) then you shouldn't get that problem anymore.

If you are unsure of what this is doing make a vi that just contains the enumerate cameras vi and create an indicator on the output terminal (USB camera names) you will see a list of the USB cameras attached.
