visa runtime can't find serial port?

I want to use the serial port for my application. 10 machines are already working with the application, but we're building 10 new machines at the moment. The new machines have other computers (ECM 5616 from evalue (old machines ECM5613 from evalue)) When I install Visa Runtime, the serial ports of the computer aren't detected. In the C:\VXIPNP\WinNT\NIvisa\visaconf.ini file I only can find information about the parallel port in the [ASRL-RSRC-ALIAS] section. Why doesn't Visa find the serial ports??

What OS system are you using ? Is it the same as the old ?
Check via control panel that you can see com ports.
What version of MAX have you installalled?
try re installation of drivers.

Try re booting  system.

Also check the BIOS to make sure that there isn't a setting there to disable the COM ports. Make sure that there really are serial ports (only partially kidding, they are becoming a rare beast in the laptop world, only a matter of time for the desk tops). If you see it in the Windows control panel see if you can see them with the windows "Hyperterminal" utility.
