turn off event buffer

Hi.

I cannot manage to turn off event buffer. I mean, an event generated from a certain front panel runs another VI opening its own front panel, I want LabView not to wait for events on the first VI until the second VI is closed. Enableing "lock front panel" is not enough because it only waits some time to process events.

Can someone help me?

Hello Andrea,
set a boolean flag to true when the event executes wich calls the sub-VI (event_1) and reset it in  the Timeout- event. In every other event you have to place a case structure, which executes the code according to the event if  the flag is unset (False) and does nothing if the Flag ist set. Every event in the event queue after finishing event_1 will be executed before the Timeout event executes.

You could also use dynamic events. Have a look at the example "Dynamically Registering For Events.vi" in the example finder.

I agree that the current behavior (=having unlimited numbers of the same events buffered) is somewhat unsatisfactory. I would prefer if the event configuration would allow an option where only the newest event is retained if events accumulate due to slow processing.

Currently I use a simple method as outlined in the following post:

Maybe you can adapt a similar method for your purpose.
