I think I fixed it myself. My data file was created in Excel, saved as a text file. I went back into the Excel file and made sure my cells were formatted as text only. Resaved, reloaded into this vi and it appears OK. What a strange symptom, though.
May I give myself kudos and solution if I do it myself? ![]()

You have nulls (\00) throughout the strings fed to the ring. Remove the nulls and I think you will see your strings.
