stop/start loop from another parallel loop

thanks, that is a good idea.

I actually have about 3 parrellel loops that I need to all stop, i thought the notifier would be more elegant.

but thinking about it further, only 1 really hangs, the one with the DAQ. the other two a quite robust.

I shall give it a go.
