source code control

I was wondering what is the best source code control that can be used with labview and C++. My company has PVCS and they are getting it setup now but we do not have a clear answer on whether it will support labview or not. Labview code is not a real issue for us now since I am the only programmer here that uses it but in the future it will be, as more and more chip test code is written in labview, so I want to start a standard now before it gets out of hand.

Thanks

Joe

hey joe,

the LabVIEW built-in SCC is fine when working with VIs inside LLBs, but there's no way to handle directories or external files like ini-files, dlls and so on. PVCS or Microsoft VSS can handle directories and all kinds of files, but you have to check in/out/get the whole LLB! in my opinion both MS VSS and PVCS are OK.

I wouldn't use Rational ClearCase with LabVIEW because of the Dynamic Views (may cause troubles with VIs in memory and on the virtual drive).

if it was my choice, i'd take MS VSS. when working with a LOT (>500) of files, then i'd take PVCS. (MS VSS is part of the MS developer studio)

I just found out that they have already purchased PVCS so the others are not an option, and since I do not have the professional version then the built in SCC is not an option for me either. Do you know of any problems with Labview and PVCS.

Thanks for the info

i never encountered any problems caused by PVCS. when there were problems, then they were caused by the user.
