save for previous changes original source

I've been having a couple of issues in LabVIEW 2009 when I try to save for previous to v8.6. One problem is a message, after it starts cranking, that it could complete, there was a file area, either disk full (40GB left) or permissions. Then when I try and close the original project it asks if I want to save 124 vi's, as they were loaded from a previous version (8.6). When I did the save this morning in my hotel (I'm on the road, as usual) to my "thumb drive" it worked ok. The reason for all of this saving back and forth is that I have 8.6.1 at the customer's, only 8.5 and 2009 on my laptop.

I'm sorry, but what is your question?

When I save a project for previous version, should the open version then be the previous version, particularly when I got an error during the process and the destination folder doesn't have all of the original source?

I can't say that I've seen the behavior you've described. If you try to save to a location that runs out of space somewhere in the middle of saving all the VIs, then you should get a dialog asking you for a location for an "emergency backup" (whatever that is with respect to save for previous version). If it's a permissions problem you'd have that issue right from the start, not in the somewhere around the 50th VI or so.

Weird! Well I'll get around it by dragging around yet another laptop! Between that and the roughly 300 m from my desk to the lab, I'll work off some of the seasonal food results! Have made the round trip 8 times today, once when I hadn't copied a file to a shared drive accessible at the other end.
