I'm trying to print out a report to my seiko sii-dpu-d2 USB thermal printer.  To make sure I could talk to the printer I just used one of the Report Generation shipping examples.  It keeps coming back saying no default printer.  The seiko is the only printer I have and its checked as the default.  I can print using notepad and a test page from control panel.  Do I have to have ms office installed to use the report generation tool kit?

Yes, you need to have MS Office installed to be able to use the tool kit.

Is there an alternative??  Is there a shipping example to use just text (Notepad/Wordpad??)?

Have you tried any of the File I/O functions ?

There is a "Write Text File" vi for writing plain text files.

now I get no default printer installed.  I'm able to print the vi front panel ok but can output any string.  I get the -41002 error.

Can the LV test file drive write to a thermal strip paper printer??  Seiko SII-DPU-D2??

I went to printers in control panel and copied the printer name exactly as it is there.
