report generation in windows

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi There,

When i am using report generation in my mac it is working fine but when i make an exe file of my vi and use it on windows report generation is not working. Is there a way to save the report in a file or see it as html in browser in windows. I understand there is a report generation toolkit for office, does i need to have that to just use report to save in a file or see in a html browser in windows

Thanks

you can use the new report.vi and than create a constant on the report type and than from there you can ppend front panel images or anything else you want to go to an HTML

also there is a section called HTML reports only

hope this helped

Hi Harold,

I used new report.vi and transferring some data to the report. It works fine in mac, but when i use it on windows and run the vi to generate report, it does not do anything.

On my windows i just have run time for labview.

Thanks

So,

You create an application on a Mac (presumably for a Mac?) and distribute it to a PC and it does not work?  How awful! Uhmmm.. hmhm..psst!

What LabVIEW version is installed on your MAC and witch license?

You cannot run a MAC application on a WINDOWS machine. You have to recompile the VI and build a new application for Windows on a Windows machine (which means you need the Windows version of LabVIEW to recompile and create the Windows version of the application).

You seem to be using some subVI to get a path. I'd also guess that whatever you have in there is probably Mac-specific.

I have a basic version of Labview 8.2 for windows also. I am making .exe file using that. Everything else works fine in windows except report generation. Even when i run a vi in windows Labview 8.2, i am still not able to print report on browser or save report in a file. I said that i have runtime for windows because eventually i have to run it in a windows computer with runtime version of labview only. But for making the installer or .exe file i am using Labview 8.2 basic windows version.

Thanks

Have you tried the shipping examples? Like the "Example HTML Report" VI?
