reading usb data

I am using a labview application (don't know which version, as it is third party application). The peripheral is a sensor which sends data out using DB15, SPI. The data then goes through a converter box, and comes out as USB which connects to the PC. The application has a "start measurement" button which starts reading from the peripheral. I wish to replicate this in a custom application of mine to be built in labview 2012. How should I go about doing this?
