read table contents

Hello,

        I looking for an example or working ideas as to create a table linked to a text file that diplays the contents of the column for the selected row. I have attached a pictorial to give you an idea, its like making a recipe table. Please give some feedback on this issue.

Is the table going to be string or integers?
