read error with gpib/wattmeter

I'm running a Yokogawa WT130 wattmeter hooked up by a GPIB.  I have a driver from the Yokogawa website which I placed in the istr.lib folder.

When I go to create my VI through the assistant, the device is recognized but the bfff0015 visa status code appears when I go to read.  I have read through some of the other threads that say this error happens because the byte sizes aren't right..but how do I know what to set it to? (I'm very novice at programming >o<)

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

What do you mean by 'assistant'? The only assistant that would seem to apply would be the Instrument I/O Assistant but you would only use that if you didn't have a driver. I don't have the instrument and didn't go to Yokagawa's site but there is a driver on NI's site at http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=E3B19B3E9103659CE034080020E748.... Open the YKWT1X0 Getting Started and try that.

With GPIB instruments, the error you are getting is often because you are doing a read and the instrument has no data to return. That could be because of various reasons, including not sending the correct command to the instrument that instructs it to take a measurement.

that's the same driver I already have. So I don't need to use the assistant. Thanks, I'm quite newb at this.

*runs away to figure out how to get the data to show up*
