"Enable SSE2 optimination" checkbox is missing

Solved!
Go to solution

Getting below warning message popup every time I attempt to show properties for build specifications:

"By default, LabVIEW incorporates compiler optimizations that improve the run-time performance of your applications. These optimizations are compatible with the vast majority of targets. However, if the target for your build specification does not support SSE2 instructions, you must remove the checkmark from the Enable SSE2 optimization checkbox on the Advanced page of the Properties dialog box for the build specification."

I am using LabVIEW 2015 SP1 Version 15.0.1f7. There is no such checkbox, "Enable SSE2 optimization" on the Advanced page of the Properties dialog for the build specification. However, the program seems to build and run ok after ignoring the warning.

Was the checkbox moved elsewhere? Or, was the checkbox removed and the application builder is simply unaware of this? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Are you using LV 64-bit?  Per the LabVIEW help, this option is not available for LV 64-bit.

No, 32-bit.

Also, I just discovered that the warning message does NOT appear, and the checkbox IS visible for LabVIEW version 15.0f2 (32-bit). The build specification properties dialog window is slightly larger in version 15.0f2, and the checkbox is the very last item on the Advanced page. Since the properties dialog window for version 15.0.1f7 (32-bit) is slightly undersized, I am guessing the checkbox is somewhere below the lower edge of the window. Since the window cannot be resized and scroll bars are not available, so I simply cannot "see" the checkbox that is out of view.

Weird.  I'm running the same version and the checkbox in question is right below "[ ]Use LabVIEW 8.x file layout"

One question, and it's just a remote possibility:

Have you adjusted the Windows scaling around the same time you installed the f7 patch?  I know LabVIEW trips all over itself in this way if you've changed that option from 100%.

Hmmm... If I did, I did not do it intentionally. I'm a new employee here. On my first day, they handed me a laptop and the installation disks for NI Developer Suite 2015, and then said, "good luck!" After the installation program finished installing the LabVIEW professional developer's suite, it searched for, downloaded, and installed a variety of updates from NI including SP1 and the f7 patch. Apparently, the other desktop PC here has never been updated (it does not have SP1 nor the f7 patch).

How would I change the Window's scaling if I wanted to? Just curious.

I believe it's under your monitor settings.

Did you happen to install any LabVIEW 2017 stuff recently?  I wouldn't think it would be related but that checkbox has been removed in 2017 since apparently all supported hardware support SSE2.

Bill, you are correct, Sir. All check boxes are now visible after changing the display settings to a smaller size. I guess the size of the window does not increase accordingly when the contents of the window are made larger, i.e. the contents gets pushed beyond the window's border when changing the display text size from small to medium.

Thanks!
