Hello ,
I wanted to quantize an analog signal. Can anyone pls help me do this.
Is there any ready VI which i can use to quantize an analog signal?
If not, how can i creatre my own vi- i.e what are the components i need to use to realise the new vi - for example - to sample the signal i may need some vi etc.
One more thing is that the waveform
generated by any vi in labview itself is digital right? - so how can a
discretize an already discrete signal ( because compuetrs represent
only digital waveform .is the error negligible)
Many Thanks.

What exactly do you mean by "quantize an analog singal"? Do you mean you want to acquire the analog signal into LabVIEW?
What data acquisition hardware do you have? Look in the Example Finder for numerous examples of how to use DAQmx to acquire the signal.

hello,
i am not acquiring any real time signal. I only intend to simulate the quantization process,
i.e simulate an analog signal, then discretize it both in time and amplitude to get the digitized signal.
Thanks

The "Simulate Signal" from Signal processing -> wfm-generation generates a discrete signal and quantifies it.
I assume you want to study quantification phenomenons? Just change signal and sample frequencies in the Simulate Signal and you're done. 🙂

well , i want to simulate an A/D converter in short ..
like i should be able to set the resolution of ADC i.e the resolution ,
i am sorry for not being clear earlier..
thanks again.

rebelstar-
Have you tried using the Analog to Digital.vi and wiring the Digital Waveform output to a Digital Waveform graph? This will the digital instance of the analog waveform that is put into it. If you are just wanting to view the analog waveform with stairsteps, then you can change the resolution of the analog waveform higher or the Plot Interpolation through Right-click on graph>>Properties or Property Nodes. Hope this helps!!

G-Money,
thanks for the reply,
i will try it now..
Thanks.!

dear rebelstar you can simulate a Data acquisition device from the MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) , and choose the Virtual Channel you will acquire from it in the DAQ Assistant Express VI for example, since it is a simulated device it will give you a standard sign wave form that you can work on.
i think you want your block diagram looks like (Acquiring as a stand alone block - Quantization as a stand alone block - Presenting as a stand alone block as well)
am i right ?
