point by point comparing

I am working with a system that should light up a led if hands are clapped. I have the reference sound recorded as .wav file and program should observe a microphone if hands are clapped. The biggest problem seems to be how to compare two signals point by point. I get out the reference signal point by point but how can I get real time input point by point? I attach the file ..

Hi KevMi,

why do you want to compare point-by-point? You already do all this using array operations...
LabView can do all kind of math on arrays as well and is most often faster on array operations compared to point-by-point operations...

Btw. you can also try cross correlation to check for clapping hands!

Thank You for your reply.I did some changes in code. Now it checks how many samples file includes and gets as many samples from microphone and then compares them.I just don't know if that works.Do I have to clap hands in that very same moment when it starts to collect data,or does it collect data every moment and compare it so that starting point moves only one point every time? If I use cross correlation do I need those FFT transformers and if so in RMS or in some other mode? And which cross correlation (RI or the other) I should be using? And I guess averaging isn't required? And finally ,where have all the flowers gone?It would be great if you could show some example, because I have an IQ of a brick. 😉

Hi All,

Even we are looking for the same kind of approach.

We are lloking for a comparison technique which compares two .wav files point by point.

WOuld you please suggest how to move forward using the array techniques in Labview...

I am comfortable with Labview but not an expert.

So kindly providea similar example by which i can modify and work for my implementation...

Please reply to my personal mail

Thanks in advance.
