plot error bars on x-y graphs

I have an application where I want to plot the data as they come in. Each data point has a statistical uncertainty associated with it. It is critical that this uncertainty be indicated for each point in the form of an error bar. How do you do it? I don't see any way to wire the uncertainty into the graph, and I don't see any x-y graph properties dealing with the format of the error bars.
