parallel port again

Hi there,

after reading the recent threads about using the lpt as an digital
output under win2000 at least I got the
running. It does not give any error messages. Pins 10-12 are grounded.

But writing to the port does never affect the state of pins 2-9. They
always remain the same as after starting the computer:
pins 2-5 are high
pins 6-9 are low.

Does anybody know what I may have forgotten to get it working properly?

Thanks in advance,
\Ulli.

NI has a patch that allows winNT to use the parallel port and I believe it
is also used for win2000. Do a search on their site. Sorry I don't have
the name, its at work.

Almost forgot to mention -- go in bios and set parallel port to standard.

I did the job, if you want I can send you the working out port.vi
for NT. Hope it will work under w2k.

Hi there,
thanks to some really kind guys I got the solution, and it was quite
simple. The only thing to do is to go to ni's developer zone:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/devzoneweb.nsf/opendoc?openagent&2851D0A06E3185BC8625683A000AC730&cat=034E59A8530E09DF862568900018707A

then get the file and run the setup.exe.
After rebooting the computer you can easily access the lpt using the
following vi's:

functions->advanced->port i/o->in port and
functions->advanced->port i/o->out port respectively.

Again, thanks to all the supporters,
\Ulli.
