Are you asking if the LabVIEW Downhill Simplex nD VI and the MATLAB fminsearch function equivalent methods of optimization? I honestly don't know the specifics behind what goes on with the fminsearch function, but I would imagine the documentation for that function will have what kind of optimization routine that it is using. If you are asking about benchmarking, that is something that I don't have a lot of experience with either. I would guess for small sets of equations computation times are very similar, but I have no idea about larger complicated systems. My advice would be to try it out and repost some of your times. Anyone else with similar information?
