no remote access to executable

Hello,

I want to run and use an vi at a remote PC.
To do that I've created an executable from the vi I want top use. Then I run the exe at the remote PC.

Now I go to my PC and call the remote exe by using the VI server. But I dont have access to the remote exe.

If I run the vi (not the exe) at the remote PC everything is fine. I have full access from my PC to the remote vi.

Why is it not possible to get access to the remote exe but have access to the remote vi.

Thanks for help

From your descriptin it looks like you are using the path to the executable itself in the VI server, instead of the VI of interest which is compiler under this EXE. To get the exact path all you need to do is open the executable, and then click CTRL+I (VI Properties) in the VI you want to communicate. from the 'General' Category you can copy the 'Location' field and paste it to your caller VI.

Thanks for help.
I've found the problem. It was very simple. There was still LabView running during the time when the exe was running.
Obviously that disturbed the communication to the exe file.
Now it's working fine.

Thanks.

To avoid this in the future, you should define a different port for the EXE (either through the options menu or by editing the ini file). Then, by using the other port number when opening the reference, the connection will be to the EXE.
