network not visible in project (explorer)

Hi all,

for the purpose of modularization and maintenance performance I’m currently trying to change simulations created in VeriStand into LabVIEW custom devices.

The system I’m working with is made up of the following components:

  • a PXI-1042Q chassis is connected to
    • NI PXI-8512 (CAN)
    • NI PXI 8513 (CAN)
    • NI PXI-7831
    • NI PXI-6712
    • NI PXI-6220
    • NI PXI-6229
  • the chassis is connected to the RT-PC:
    • "Generic Desktop PC" with "NI Real-Time Phar Lap ETS 13.1"
  • the RT-PC is connected to the working station by Ethernet
    • Windows 10
    • LabVIEW 2018 SP1 (32bit only)
    • VeriStand 2018

My problem is that I can only see my own PC in my LabVIEW but no network including the RT-PC and the NI PXI-1042Q chassis.

In VeriStand, NI MAX and NI-Visa Interactive Control I don’t have this problem and can see them all without any issues.

Does anyone have an idea where I could get further information regarding this matter?

Sorry for checking basics, you have tried to add device into project, have not you?

Project > right click > New Targets and Devices window -> correct category should show your devices if they are visible in MAX,

Sometimes you need to specify IP (in the same window) if it is not local network or some discovery in Windows is turned off.

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I can’t find any of them when I’m searching in new>’target and device’.

‘Add Target and Device’ says in every available category ‘<No item found>’.

I tried to look for the RT-PC by its IP address, but did not succeed. The chassis does not have a IP address since it has a serial connection to the RT-PC.

The available categories are:

  • ELVIS RIO
  • Ethernet RIO
  • My RIO
  • Real-Time CompactRIO
  • Real-Time FlexRIO
  • Real-Time Single-Board RIO
  • roboRIO
  • Touch Panel
  • Windows CompactRIO

Do I miss the needed category and if yes, how can I add it to LabVIEW?
