need some help with saving VIs in LabVIEW

Hi,
I finally got the LabVIEW Student Edition to work on win XP.I have all my VIs developed in Labview 6.1.I am not able to open it in 6.0 and don't have access to 6.1 either.(I guess I did not save it with options in 6.1).Can someone help me out with this?
thanks,
sujani.

You have big problems because LabVIEW is not backward compatible, which means anything written in 6.1 will never, ever run in 6.0.3. This is very stupid, but the guys at NI want you to have to buy the new releases so they can stay employed.(Maybe ?).... I think you can download the upgrade or you will have to rewrite all your VIs. Sorry.

How many VIs do have to convert? I don't mind converting a handful. Attach what you need converted.

6.1 is capable of saving to a previous version (6.0). The exception is 6.1 specific features like the event case.

That's kind of a harsh statement against NI. VIs can sometimes be saved for
previous versions, and the original poster's question isn't hopeless.

Check out File -> Save With Options. There is a save for 6.0 option
available. Some structures clearly wont translate to previous versions; for
example the event structure is new to 6.1 and didn't exist in 6.0 so that
particular feature could never be backward compatible. However basic code
saves fine for previous versions.

Going back major releases (for example to 5.x) is indeed more of a
difficulty. I can understand the logic of not messing with a working
installed system, but I haven't used 5.x for new development in years.
There's so little call for 5.x anymore.

FYI - If you haven't checked out 6.1, it i
s lightyears ahead of 6.0.x with
the event structure, XML, activex, windows XP support, and so on. Other than
the expensive pricetag (and student/eval versions), its hardly worth
thinking about 6.0.x anymore.

hi all,
thanks for all your responses.I am quite aware of 6.1' advantages over 6.0.but right now i am a new grad looking for jobs in labview-i cannot afford to install the labview development version at home:).i did not foresee this problem when i was working, and had a chance to use 6.1 and did not save my vi with options.i guess i will have to rebuild them all.

Sujani,
Here are the VIs saved for 6.0. I hope I didn't miss any, so if there are some I did, just post those VIs again.
I've put all of your VIs in one llb, and left the instrument driver VIs in their own llb.
