minimize sub vi

Looking for a solution, need to minimize a sub VI but continue to let it run while navigating through other VIs.  I have a GUI project, the front panel can call up a small window that displays alarms.  Everytime I open this window it has to update, I would like to minimize it and still be able to navigate to other VIs in the project.  Last it would be a benefit to be able to bring it back up if called through one of the other VIs that is running in the foreground.
