license manager error

We recently purchased a named floating seat of Labview Professional for a firmware engineer. The license was added to our VLM/server. An account was created and the engineer granted access to his seat.

He keeps receiving the same error message each time he launches. He is told: Unable to communicate with license server on
27007@ftceng08  After verifying the server is running, restart this application. A temporary license has been granted, based on previous checkout success from a network server. This temporary license expires on 7/3/2008.

I originally installed him before receiving the license. He used the temp license for several weeks as the PO processed. Once the license was available, he was initially granted a license. This occured for several weeks until this issue developed. He can ping the license server. This is one of 26 named floating licenses of Professional. All other users are receiveing their licenses as expected.

Hey Jeff,

On the client computer, does the server and all of its license show up in NI License Manager?  Can the client telnet into the server over port 27007?  Also is the server and client on the same subnet?  Please see this knowledge base article "Troubleshooting NI Volume License Manager Issues" for more information.  Also, it might be quicker for you to contact support and create a new service request at ni.com/ask.  Choose Volume License Manager under NI Software.  I hope this helps, and have a great day!
Best Regards,
Software Engineer
