lecroy 9400a

Hi,

Anybody still have the GPIB instrument drivers for the LeCroy 9400A oscilloscope for LabVIEW 6.1? The ones posted on ni.com are for LV 7.1 and I can't upgrade the computer to 7.1 due to system req.s (it's an old machine) and I can't transfer the ISA GPIB card to any of our newer computers, due to their lack of antiquated ISA slots.

Thanks for any input!

Hi Dave,

Unless no one else has an drive for LV 6.1, you may want to consider modifying the existing driver (or at least the components you need) for LV 6.1.  There are lots of resources available for modifying drivers, here are a few.

https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/labview/page/instrument-driver-modification-instructions.html

https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/instrument-drivers/tools-resources/developing-labview-plug-a...

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Ted,

I wrote LeCroy and they replied that "unfortunately, we do not have a driver for this scope for LabVIEW version 6.1." It's kind of hard to believe given the age of the scope, but that's the way it is I guess.

Modifying the existing driver seems to be the only recourse.

Cheers,
~Dave

Hi Dave,

Alan from LeCroy Tech Support here...

I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure that LeCroy never actually wrote a LabVIEW driver for the 9400A. LabVIEW was still at version 1.0 when the 9400A was discontinued, which was back in 1989.  The driver in the NI Instrument Driver Library was probably contributed by a customer...

jjp377, thank you for posting a version compatible with LV 6.x !

Best Regards,
Alan

Excellent, thank you very much for posting this jjp377.

Alan, I knew that the 9400A was old but I didn't know it was that old (discontinued in '89?!). I can see why it would be unusual to develop drivers for it. May I assume that you are the same Alan that replied to my initial inquiry to psgsupport@lecroy.com? If so, then thanks for keeping up with these ni.com boards.

Many thanks again to everyone for replying,
~Dave
