launch application

I am trying to launch any executable such as notepad or word or even exe file created by labview.  When I am done with the application, I quit it and go back to LabVIEW and continue to launch the next application.  I am not trying to run it IN THE LabVIEW, but simply trying to launch and stop it in LabVIEW.  (Stopping can be done within the application as well like quitting notepad or Word.)

Is there any example or any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Have you looked into the system exec vi? This will launch applications.
