labview email.

Ignore the names of the attachments, I realise they say 7.0 but I just forgot to change their names when I converted them back a version.

I promise they are really 6.1 versions

Hi EmmaR,

i was happy to find the email-vi's for LV6.1 as i still use this Labview-version.

Unfortunatly the vi: Email_with Attachment_7.0.vi doesn't work for me. I get an error (in the erro-out messagebox).:

"object specified is not creatable in Email_with Attachment_7.0.vi"

Is there something wrong with the vi or do i something wrong?

Best regards,

Joop Tap

The two last post are most likely due to not having the correct MS Office installed on that computer. Outlook being an MS Office application and MS changing the object library it implements those ActiveX interface usually with every new version including the ActiveX object structure made it virtually impossible for LabVIEW to allow use of MS Office ActiveX controls across different versions.

Most probably you can fix that by making sure the Outlook ActiveX library that is installed on your computer is referenced instead of the one the original developer was using. You may have to go into each ActiveX Node too and reselct the methods and properties to allow LabVIEW to link properly to them and if things go very bad (but it's not very unlikely) you will also have to look for differently named methods and properties and/or rewire them since their interface changed. Maybe you can't even replace certain functionality since it got only added later on with newer MS Office versions.

The code that you are trying to open is stuff I wrote 2 years ago. If you read the entire thread you'll see that it's dependent upon an ActiveX control from Ostrosoft to generate the email. The free version of the control is still available, check the company website.

Have you tried pinging the SMTP server you are trying to talk to?
