imaq config list error

Hello all,

I have a question for you.

I have :

    -    LV 7.1
    -    IMAQ 3.5.1
    -    IMAQ I/O 1.1
    -    Vision Asist 7.1.1
installed on my machine.

I am using an NI PCI-1422 to acquire an image from an IR camera.

The problem I have is that snap and grab in MAX with the camera works. However, if I try to do the same thing in vision assist (VA), I get an error from IMAQ Configure List.vi that the requested acquisition window is invalid. (Error 1074397067) Now I've made sure MAX was closed and that Vision assist was only doing an acquisition. (ie. no scripts), so I'm not sure of

1.) what it means when it say acquisition window is invalid
2.) where my problem might be?

Much appreciated.

Anderson,

The fact that an image acquisition works in MAX but gives the error in Vision Assistant is strange.  What it means when the vision acquisition window is invalid is that a setting (most likely the dimensions) of the acquisition window is incorrect for what the camera is sending.  The confusion here is that that window is set in the camera file, and if there is an issue with it it will appear in MAX.  I would think that possibly the issue is arising from an install problem with Vision Assistant.  You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Also, have you tried acquiring an image in LabVIEW?  Try opening the simple snap example program and running it, does it give you an error?  Thank you.

Allison,

thank you for your reply.

I have tried an image acq. in labview but it also doesn't work. Attached is an image of my acquisition program in LV. I didn't see a sample snap program.

I will try a reinstall of vision assist and let you know.

Anderson,

There should be a list of sample programs for IMAQ in the Example finder.  If you go to Help >> Find Examples... in LabVIEW and click the search tab and type "snap" it will bring up several simple snap programs.  I would recommend looking at both the High Level Snap VI's and the Low Level Snap VI's to see how the IMAQ VI's are used.  Also before you try it, check the list of compatible cards in the bottom right corner of the example finder.  Thank you.

Hi Allison.

Sorry for the long delay.

Somehow, something changed after a new install and now I get another error even with the example programs.

I have the PCI-1422 card and checked that both the LL snap and HL snap are compatible with this card.
In the LL snap I get an IMAQ Configure Buffer error while in the HL snap, I get an error in the IMAQ snap.vi

Any ideas?

Regards,
Anderson

Hello Anderson,

It sounds like there might be something wrong with the NI IMAQ driver and not Vision Assistant.  I would download/install the latest IMAQ driver.  The NI IMAQ driver is now bundled into a software package called Vision Acquisition Software.  It will install 3 drivers one of which included the latest NI IMAQ driver.  The other drivers require a license but it will not hurt to have them installed on your machine.  So if you only reinstalled Vision Assistant chances are you didn't fix the issue since it might reside in the NI IMAQ driver.  I hope this helps.  Have a great day.
