Did you mean:

how to reinstall an old version of labview

I do not believe that this is related to WIN XP SP2, or the firewall settings allowing/blocking LabVIEW to connect to the internet.

So just to clarify, you installed LabVIEW 7.0 (and drivers) on a different computer with NO previous NI software installed, and you are still getting issues with LabVIEW shutting down properly on that system?

Interesting, could you elaborate a little more then on how exactly LabVIEW is behaving incorrectly? When you open LabVIEW, does LabVIEW run properly? Are you able to run example programs, and run other VIs? When you are done and you exit LabVIEW are there any LabVIEW icons visible in the task-bar? Does your computer become unresponsive at any point? Does it look like LabVIEW is closed, but will not open again on subsequent attempts to open the program? Please provide me with as much information about the problem as possible.

Since you are experiencing this behavior with the other computer, I do not believe this is related to the previous version of LabVIEW being installed on your computer, or other NI software interfering with this version -- it sounds like your installation CD might be bad or some settings in LabVIEW might be to blame.

When I open LV, it runs fine. I can run exmple and other VIs. I can safe VIs....etc. So far I have not found wrong behaves unless I try to exit LV. When I exit LV, the LabVIEW icons visible in the task-bar, but I can not open it (look likt LV was closed). On the task manager, it shows the LV was not responding. If I don't kill LV from there, then I can not open any LV files. PC seems response on other programs just fine include NI Measurement&automation software.

I agree with you that the problem shall not be caused by the previous version being installed. I cannot tell if the CD was bad or LV setting was bad because I use the default settings.

Thanks

Hello Julia,

I did some more research and discovered that this is an issue that has been reported for tablet-PCs before. Unfortunately LabVIEW is not officially supported for tablet-PCs and its corresponding version of Windows XP. It appears that on these systems, LabVIEW will continue to function while opened, but you will need to continue to close LabVIEW in this manner when exiting the program. I have added your information about this issue to our internal database so if the developers can fix this issue they will have some additional information.

Thank you for contacting us!
