how to reinstall an old version of labview

In order to test something else, I installed labview7.1 and the resent NI-DAQ drivers. Later, I removed all Labview7.1 and the drivers from "add/remove software" due to liecense issue. But when I install labView7.0 after remove labview7.1, I can not complete exit labView. Problem is when I quit labview, the labView bar-icon still remains. I have to kill it from task manager (use alt-ctrl-del). The drivers seem don't right either. I tried uninstall labview6.0 and drivers in the system and reinstall again. Same problem remains. Is it the problem causing by having labView7.0 first and windows did not remove/clean all the labView7.0 registry? I need help. Thanks.

Hello,

I suspect that for whatever reason either your installation(s) of LabVIEW are corrupt, or your registry is corrupt. The first step to resolve this is to completely uninstall all NI software from your system. You can do this through add/remove programs in Windows control panel. First select "National Instruments" and press "Change" this will allow you to add/remove installs. I do not recommend repairing installations; instead I would uninstall it completely. Once you have removed these components, you can reinstall your versions of LabVIEW. If you need more than one version, install them in order of version -- i.e. install version 6.0 before installing 7.0, etc... If this does not solve this issue, let me know and we can try other options.

Travis,

Thanks alot for replying. But that was what I exactly did: removed (selected) everything from add/remove programs. I did not repair them but unintalled them. After that I only installed labView 7.0. ......Only thing I did not do was clean up registry. I will ask someone who knows registry stuff better to give a try, unless NI tech people can tell me how to clean labView registry.

I read my original question again. I found out that I must have confused people with the lv versions I listed. ........... I installed labview 7.1 and resent driver first. Then unstalled them (selected all) completely from add/remove programs in windows. Then installed lavView 7.0 and its drivers (ni-visa, ni-daq, etc). Then I have problems. Uninstall(not repair or modify) lv7.0 and reinstall it again, some problem remain. Only one version I mean to keep in the same pc.

Travis,

No, this utility doesn't work. Same problem remains. I run the file you five first(uninstall all the com). It did not change anything. Then I unstalled everything from add/remove programs from windows and reinstall lv7.0 again. Same problem. The lv7.0 remain active after exit it but it would not response if I double click the icon. I have to kill it from the "program manager".

Sorry to hear that didn't work. Before we continue, please run a hard-disk check on your computer, with a surface scan. With a newer Windows OS, open "my computer", and right-click on the hard disk you wish to install LabVIEW to. Select Properties, Tools, Error Checking. Check both boxes to scan and repair bad sectors. If the hardware is not the issue, you ran the MSI Blast utility, and a reinstall of LabVIEW does not resolve this issue, we may need you to give us a call and talk to an AE to go through the next steps. Please let us know if the disk-check discovers any bad sectors.

Travis,

It was a brand new Fujitsu Stylistic. Do you think is caused by xp service package 2? I changed another new Fujitsu Stylistic and I get the same problem. One thing different is when I opened LV frist time after I installed LV7.0, Microsoft give me a notice sure as "in order to protect the pc, the software(lv) was blocked" and give me the option to unblock it. That was what I did and got the same result. The difference between these two pc and other PC I used is the XP package version. Wondering if you know LV have broblems with service package.

Thanks!
