how can i retrieve values to and from the GPIB with a computer

I have connected a GPIB with my PC with the help of a rs 232 cable and i can validate the stop bits and change the value with the help of measurement and automation but i cant retrieve those values through labview, i have taken the example from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9sgAyjb-Kk but i cannot get the graphical output. it shows an error, input parameter is invalid. could u pls help me on this as am a beginner and have just stepped into the interfacing area.

how do you connect a GPIB device using a RS232 cable with your computer? Those are two different connectors/cables...

am sorry actually mistaken with understanding GPIB,, well the PCB i guess... :-)

Hi beginner,

does your "PCB" actually has a COM port - or did you connect just some wires to some pins?

Did you test your serial connection with HyperTerm? Using correct port settings?
