I would like to generate a current waveform with a signal generator.

Is it possible to build a current generator with a FPGA? I mean a device which accepts a input voltage and give an output current?

If the answer is yes, which is the dynamic?

Dear GcDago,

with NI FPGA solutions you can use the cRIO-9265 module to generate up to 4 simultaneous current Outputs, 0-20 mA. Here  is the link to the module's catolog page.

This module can be used either with an Embedded cRIO solution (Controller + Active Backplane w/ FPGA) or with a PXI/PCI FPGA Board from the 78xx family using a cRIO passive backplane (which does not include an FPGA chip, already present on the PXI/PCI side).
