Hi musser,
The vi is most likely an executable provided by someone (3rd party, etc), where they provide an executable, but not the code (block diagram). You may have purchased this vi, which explains why you cannot edit it. It may also explain why you cannot open it from within Labview.
Unfortunately (or fortunately for those who create the sw 😉 ), I don't know of any means to look or modify the code. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to help you either. You may ask whoever created it if you can have access to the block diagram. If it was purchased, then they will probably do the changes for you (for a fee, of course 🙂 ).
