excel to labview

I have run a LV program. I have stored the data into an excel worksheet. I have cleared the graph from the front panel. Now I would like to see the graph again in the front panel. Is that possible? Feeding saved data back into the LV to look  at the graphs again.

I think there is a way - but it would be easier for you to store the data as a simple ascii-spreadsheet file. It will be readable from excel and you can also read it back into LV very easily.

reading a tab delimited file is much easier than inporting from excell, but you can open a reference to excel in labview and manipulate data through activeX control properitirs and methods.  You should even be able to open a workbook, get a sheet and save as all through automation, but I havent done this for a while.  I have been trying to save data in a more open standard like XML or ascii text.  Thomas is right if you want the fastest method (assuming small number of files) just save it back as a text file and open it with a read spreadsheet vi.

The excel data file is attached. Why can't  the spreadsheet vi read it?

first of all, there is no path input to the read spreadsheet vi.  secondly, the read spreadsheet vi can't read xls file.  It can only read plain ascii files.

to do what you want to do, save the xls file in ascii format (.csv) and use the read spreadsheet vi to read it. make sure you pass the valid path of the file to the vi.

I am having a problem getting the program to read all of the columns on my spreadsheet. i saved the sheet as .csv and i have 285 rows and 7 columns, yet the array that i get as an output only seems to be displaying the first column.

You probably should have started a new thread for this question but in any case, what's in the spreadsheet? Is it all numbers or do you have text in some columns? Unmodified, the Read From Spreadsheet will only read numeric values. If that's not the problem, it would help if you attached the file you're trying to read. If that is the problem, there are instructions on the diagram of the function on how to modify the VI to read text. When you make the cahnges, make sure to save it under a new name and in a new location.

I have no problem reading all columns. The default for Read From Spreadsheet is a tab delimiter. Did you change this to a comma?
